Blamed

RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is $2.99! I loved this romantic suspense, especially the part where the heroine thinks the hero is dead and the moment where they reunite. But I will warn you that it’s incredibly violent. I gave it an A-:

This book was an amazingly pleasant surprise and I lost track of the number of good book noises I made while reading it. I’m still getting my feet wet when it comes to romantic suspense, but I picked a good book to try out.

Born into a long line of spies, sanctioned killers and covert weapons developers, Beth Faraday carried out her first hit-for-hire when she was still a teenager.

That part of her life—the American spy royalty part—ended one year ago, with a job gone wrong in Afghanistan. The collateral damage she caused with a single shot was unfathomable and, for Beth, unforgivable. She’s worked hard to build a new life for herself, far away from the family business.

But someone, somewhere, hasn’t forgotten what Beth did in Kabul. And they want revenge.

As the Faraday clan bands together to defend Beth and protect their legacy, Beth is forced to flee her new home with the unlikeliest of allies—MI6 agent Raleigh Vick, the only man she’s ever loved. And the one she thought she’d killed in the desert.

The Billionaire Bad Boys Club

The Billionaire Bad Boys Club by Emma Holly is 99c at most vendors! It’s $1.20 at AllRomance. This is the first in a series and is definitely classified as erotica, given the menage arrangement at the heart of the plot. The heroes are billionaires and the heroine is a chef. The two men are lovers who both happen to be attracted to the same women, so everyone is into everyone, which is my sort of arrangement. While readers love the heroine, some weren’t exactly buying the triad romance.

Self-made billionaires Zane and Trey have been a club of two since they were eighteen. They’ve done everything together: play football, fall in love, even get smacked around by their dads. The only thing they haven’t tried is seducing the same woman. When they set their sights on sexy chef Rebecca, these bad boys just might have met their match!

Monstress, Volume 1: Awakening

RECOMMENDED: Monstress, Volume 1 by Marjorie Liu is $3.99! Carrie did a Lightning Review of issue one of this graphic novel and gave it a B+. She also really loved the artwork. Here are Carrie’s overall thoughts:

This is a stunningly illustrated story about many levels of autonomy and freedom. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on, but I can’t wait to find out more.

Set in an alternate world of art deco beauty and steampunk horror, Monstress tells the epic story of Maika Halfwolf, a teenage survivors of a cataclysmic war between humans and their hated enemies, the Arcanics. In the face of oppression and terrible danger, Maika is both hunter and hunted, searching for answers about her mysterious past as those who seek to use her remain just one step behind…and all the while, the monster within begins to awaken…

The Other Einstein

The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict is $2.99! This historical fiction has a gorgeous cover and deals with one woman’s partnership and marriage to Albert Einstein. While the author does mention her research, some readers expressed some doubt in how much was factual and what was fabricated. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

In the tradition of The Paris Wife and Mrs. Poe, The Other Einstein offers us a window into a brilliant, fascinating woman whose light was lost in Einstein’s enormous shadow. This is the story of Einstein’s wife, a brilliant physicist in her own right, whose contribution to the special theory of relativity is hotly debated and may have been inspired by her own profound and very personal insight.

Mitza Maric has always been a little different from other girls. Most twenty-year-olds are wives by now, not studying physics at an elite Zurich university with only male students trying to outdo her clever calculations. But Mitza is smart enough to know that, for her, math is an easier path than marriage. And then fellow student Albert Einstein takes an interest in her, and the world turns sideways. Theirs becomes a partnership of the mind and of the heart, but there might not be room for more than one genius in a marriage.
