This HaBO is from Molly O’Keefe, who is looking for that elusive type of forgotten romance: the vacation read. Sometimes it’s in the vacation home, sometimes it’s lent to you when you run out of things to read, and sometimes you read it, leave it behind, and can’t get it out of your head. I’m writing because I have a HABO that has been killing me for years. I’m pretty sure this is the first romance I read.
My family went sailing every year with another family and the mom was a Harlequin Devotee. And after a week on the high seas of Lake Michigan, I was out of books and she loaned me one of hers.
It was about a race car driver and his ex-wife. He’d been in an accident years ago and she nursed him through it and then left because she couldn’t stand watching him risk his life. It’s a second chance at love story, because he comes back years later to woo her. This would have been a 1989-1990 Desire – probably a Man Of The Month.
I am betting someone knows this one – Harlequin Desire with race car hero seems like many, many forms of catnip for a whole bunch of readers, right?
